The Easy Road To Doing A Textured Ceiling Repair

When it comes to textured ceiling repair, being cost effective is very important. No matter what type of texture you are dealing with it is important to educate yourself, and find the most effective ways of repairing the problem. There are many steps to this process, and doing them in order is essential to a good fix. It can be tricky to fix if you do not match the texture types during the renovation. There are may different types of textures such as popcorn, plaster or paint textured ceilings. If they are not matched exactly, it could cause you to start the entire process all over again.

The Problem Starter

The first step in a textured ceiling repair or popcorn ceiling repair, is to determine the cause of the damage. Hopefully it is a minor problem and will only require a hole to be filled or repairing drywall. If the damage is caused by water, or some kind of leak, then it must be fixed before you repair the ceiling. Finding the underlining problem will prevent you from having to go through the entire process of fixing it again.

Preparing the area

The second step in a textured ceiling repair, is to get the area prepared. Removing all old texture from the area is crucial for the new texture to stick properly. This can be done by sanding, or scraping the old material. It will also need to be primed to help the repair match the rest of the ceiling. After this has been completed you need to match the texture. It may be a better touch to use paint additive. Using a premixed spray on texture may not match exactly. If it a small area the can should be fine. They have these for popcorn textured ceilings as well as paint textured ceilings. You can also use a textured plaster ceiling mix if that is what is needed.

The Final Result

Finally, it is important to protect all areas that could be effected by the paint or spray on paint being used. If you are adding a pre-mixed spray you may not need anything to make sure it is even. If you are using the additive, you can apply this by using a roller or paint brush. Let the area dry and if it looks uneven, you can add a second coat. This is an inexpensive way to textured ceiling repair. Once it is completed you can feel satisfied that you did the textured ceiling repair yourself.
